Help us raise funds for Edgar's Mission
In October we are trekking through the mountains of Sumatra to raise funds for Edgar's Mission Farm Animal Sanctuary!
Edgar’s Mission is a not for profit organisation. Established in 2003, they have rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed thousands of farmed animals at their sanctuary in Victoria. Seeking to create a humane and just world for all, this is a cause we could not agree with more!
Why Edgar’s Mission is so important to us
Edgar’s Mission is on a quest to make the world a kinder place for farmed animals. They are one of our favourite charities, and when we heard they were running a trek to Sumatra, we were immediately on board.
At the core of their mission is kindness. Providing a safe, happy home for hundreds of abandoned and mistreated animals, they also advocate animal kindness on a broader level, through education, outreach, community enrichment and sanctuary tours.
Added to the fact that we love supporting Edgar's Mission, we’ll also be visiting an Orangutan Project on this trip, and protecting orangutans is another cause we are passionate about!
The Trek
The 9 day Trek for Kindness involves a visit to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme, 3 days of challenging trekking in the Sumatran jungle and a day spent helping to plant trees in an area which was damaged by illegal logging 10 years ago.
Better yet, the whole trip is vegan, and as I'm sure you can imagine, travelling as a vegan can be quite difficult at times. Honestly, the opportunity to do something life-changing like this was too tempting - so we signed up!
How we are raising funds for Edgar’s Mission
We are trying to raise as much money as we can for Edgar's Mission and also to provide support to The Orangutan Project.
Just like Red Parka, Edgar's Mission is a vegan organisation that believes animal rights are no more or less important than human rights! And because I think pigs are amazing, special creatures, I’ve designed this pin and also put together an Edgar's Mission bundle to raise funds for this cause.
We'll be donating 100% of the sale price on each of these items and appreciate any support you’re able to give to these worthy causes.
